PORTSMOUTH — You’ll have no shortage of places to see the skies light up in celebration of Independence Day.

First, the old standby: The Escobar family’s annual fireworks display from their Middle Road dairy farm, 133 Middle Road, on Thursday, July 4, around 9:30 p.m.

Police remind residents and visitors there will be traffic delays in the area. There will also be delays near the Mt. Hope Bridge because of the festivities in Bristol.

Viewers are asked to be courteous and consider finding a different vantage spot if Middle Road is clogged with cars. The area must remain clear for first-responders and emergency vehicles.

Also, do not enter the Escobar’s Farmhouse Inn property from the driveway on East Main Road or the dirt path on Middle Road. Parking at the inn is limited to registered guests and their families.

Since the show does not receive formal town or state funding, donations are encouraged. There is an old metal milk can, tied to the tree out in front of Jane and Louie’s house, where donations can be placed.

Park Avenue Picnic

The Island Park Preservation Society presents its second annual Park Avenue Picnic featuring fireworks starting at dusk on Sunday, July 7. (Note: This event was originally scheduled for Saturday, July 6, but moved due to the threat of thunderstorms)

Gather on the lawn at Thriving Tree Coffee House, 706 Park Ave., for the festivities which start at 5:30 p.m.

In addition to the fireworks display, there will be food, live music and arts and crafts.

Aquidneck Club

The Aquidneck Club (formerly the Carnegie Abbey Club) will be hosting fireworks after dark on Saturday, July 6.

The Aquidneck Club is private, but anyone in the general vicinity will be able to view the light show.
