Vandalism, domestics, DUIs top police report

PORTSMOUTH — Here are some recent arrests made by The Portsmouth Police Department:

Tuesday, Aug. 18

Katherine Sarah Godfrey, 36, of 65 Saint Elizabeth St., Apt. 5, Bristol, was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), first offense; and driving after her license had been denied/revoked/suspended, first offense; at about 3:30 a.m. She was pulled over on West Main Road at Prescott Point for multiple traffic violations, according to police. 

Wednesday, Aug. 19

Jose Luis Ayala Alvarez, 38, of 38 Jerome Ave., Auburn, Mass., was charged with DUI, first offense, following a motor vehicle stop on Bristol Ferry Road at Brownell Lane around 3:25 a.m.

Emmanuel Pestana, 61, of 281 William Reynolds Road, Exeter, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under a foreign license that had been suspended or revoked. Pestana was pulled over on West main Road at Hedly Street shortly before 6 a.m. for committing a traffic violation, police said.

Saturday, Aug. 22

Eric J. Moreira, 48, of no permanent address in Rhode Island, was arrested at about 1 a.m. after officers responded to the Melville Campgrounds for a report of a domestic disturbance. After speaking with a victim, a witness and observing damage, Moreira was charged with domestic vandalism/malicious injury to property, third offense; and domestic disorderly conduct.

Danielle Marie Stilley, 47, of 596 Lawton St., Fall River, was charged with DUI, first offense, after being pulled over on West Main Road at Mail Coach Road around 2:45 a.m. for multiple moving violations, police said.

Leah M. Carson, 22, of 44 Attleboro Ave., was charged with multiple offenses after officers responded to a Rhode Island Boulevard home at about 11 a.m. to investigate a report of vandalism. Carson was charged with cyberstalking and cyber-harassment; vandalism/malicious injury to property; and disorderly conduct.

Sunday, Aug. 23

Madelyn Elizabeth Segerson, 25, of 174 Union St., was charged with DUI, first offense, after being pulled over on West Main Road at Melville School around 12:30 a.m. for multiple vehicle violations, police said. 

Abigail E. Levy, 27, of 14 Carriage Drive, was charged at about 2:25 a.m. with reckless driving after her vehicle crashed into a telephone pole on Middle Road, according to police. The crash took place in an intersection just past a stop sign, according to police.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986.
