Three men arrested following fight at Portsmouth pizza place

PORTSMOUTH — Three out-of-town men were arrested last Friday, Aug. 16, following a report of a fight in progress at Steve’s Famous Pizza, 2460 East Main Road, according to police. 

Officers responded to the pizza shop at about 5:45 p.m. after receiving a report of a physical altercation.

After speaking with witnesses and reviewing video footage, enough probable cause existed to place the following men under arrest, police said:

• Medhat Sobhl Malek, 18, of 18 Emerson St., Fall River, was charged with vandalism/malicious injury to property, and disorderly conduct (fighting/tumultuous behavior). According to police, Malek damaged a vehicle in the parking lot during the incident.

• Mario Same Gamil, 26, of 18 Emerson St., 1N, Fall River, was charged with disorderly conduct (fighting/tumultuous behavior).

• Carl V. Melise, 31, of 43 Goddard St., Floor 2, Providence, was charged with disorderly conduct (fighting/tumultuous behavior).

All three men were booked at the police station and issued a District Court summons.

Wednesday, Aug. 14

Timothy Berry, 44, of 180 McCorrie Lane, was charged with domestic vandalism/malicious injury to property after he turned himself in at the police station at about 9 a.m., according to police. The arrest was a result of an incident that took place the previous day. The victim was a 41-year-old woman who lives in Portsmouth, police said.

Thursday, Aug. 15

Kara Atkinson, 37, of 23 John Brown Lane, Narragansett, was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), first offense, following a motor vehicle stop on West Main Road at Turkey Hill shortly before 1 a.m. 

Saturday, Aug. 17

Anthony Horton Finch, 43, of 42 Ferry Landing Circle, was charged with domestic simple assault/battery, and domestic disorderly conduct. Finch allegedly assaulted a 77-year-old man who lives in Portsmouth earlier in the day. He was arrested at his home at about 4:15 p.m., police said. Finch was booked at the police station and placed in a men’s cell before being arraigned by a justice of the peace, according to police. 

Two out-of-towners were charged with willful trespassing at the Sakonnet River Bridge at Hillside Avenue around 6 p.m. They were Arestides R. Fonsecalobo, 58, of 377 Centre St. 1, Brockton, Mass.; and Alina Alves, 56, of 78 Riverview St., Apt. 3, Brockton. They were each issued a 2nd District Court summons and left the scene without incident, police said.
