Portsmouth Youth Soccer lists recent game results

PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth Youth Soccer Association (PYSA) has been busy, busy, busy with games this summer. Here are some results from recent contests.

July 11-14

U6

It was an exciting game with Green Valley Country Club beating a great Hanson Curran team, 13-8. 

On the Green Valley team, lightning-fast Liam Neve scored 6 goals followed by Sutton (“Powerhouse) Powers with 5 more, and 2 from Hutchin Devaud. Roman Medeiros added some assists. On the Hanson Curran team, there were 5 goals made by Chloe Convie, and 1 apiece by Peter Simeone, Isaac Zins, and Charlie Bulk. All of the kids played very well.

Gold Medal Bakery, led by Everett Lambert, Gus LeComte and Skylar Magalhaes, defeated Stage Door Dance. Nate Iwanski and Elijah Nash had a pair of assists. Notable standouts for Stage Door Dance were the brother/sister combo of Rocco and Ryann DesChenes, as well as Axel Brown. 

The Stage Door Dance Lizards defeated Viti Automotive, 9-8. For Stage Door, Jojo Spicer and Jack Henley led the team on offense, while Landon Rose excelled on defense. For Viti Automotive, Callum Corbishley-Brown and Parker White led the team in goals and Bowen Donahue led the defensive effort.

U4

Team Ecological Insulation, led by Emily with 3 goals, cruised to a victory over Team Ocean State Air. Team Ocean State Air fought hard until the very end, and were able to come up with a goal late in the fourth quarter to prevent the shutout. Notable players were Madeline Stalls and Penélope Pastrana for Ecologic, and Lucy Harnett and Rose Delehanty for Ocean State.

Crafty One defeated Cabinet Revival 14-7. Nile Quick, Riley Rouse and Jacob Neve played well for Craft One, while Evelyn Almilli and Sebastian Ferry did the same for Cabinet Revival.

Countryside Children’s Center defeated Ocean State Air. For Countryside, several players scored goals including Louie Guerriero, Ellis O’Dell, Brody Solomito. Ocean State Air player notable players were Wesley O’Connor, Adam Logan and Gable Devaud. 

Ecologic Insulation defeated A1 Paving, 7-3. For Ecologic, a good game was played by Rye Kelly, Emily Kowalski, and Mac McKenna. For A1, Amyra Albino, Munroe Hathaway, and Owen Ruggieri played well.

Countryside Children’s Center defeated Cabinet Revival. For Countryside, Brody Solomito, Cai Spurlock, and Alex Tibbets scored goals in this season-opener. All players on both sides played well, with special mention for Cai’s great ball-handling skill and agility. Notable for Cabinet Revival were Rubie Laparle and Ella Simico.

July 18-21

U4

Countryside, showing off some amazing plays on defense by Erica O’Connor and others, defeated A1 Paving. Louie Guerriero made goals along with Luke Duffy and other strong scorers on the winning team. 

A1 Paving worked hard on offense, scoring 2 goals. Bennett Corbishley-Brown, Owen Ruggieri and Liam Fields all played well.

Ecologic vs Cabinet Revival had a tough game in the heat. Ecologic defeated Cabinet Revival during a tough game in the heat. Notable players were Madeline Stalls, Ender Zell , Mac, and Claire Folliard. 

U4 

Countryside, displaying excellent footwork and defense, defeated Crafty One. There were great plays by Winnie Gleason and Tatum Odell, and a few good goals by Ellis Odell. 

Crafty One was good on defense, with great plays by Molly, Landon, and Hudson.

U6

Gold Medal Bakery edged Hawaiian Jim's by a goal under the hot summer weather. For Gold Medal, Elijah Nash and Gus LeComte played well, and Nate Iwanski scored a goal on his sixth birthday. For Hawaiian Jim’s, Harry Minyo and Kaia Kahle were standouts.

Viti Automotive, led by Nathaniel Kabak with 3 goals, defeated Newport Chowder Co., 10-3. Silas Ouelette and Hannah Cherevaty also played well, contributing to the team’s defense. For Newport Chowder Co., Ashley Clark scored 2 goals and was backed by Charlie Sochor and Eva Hayes, who also played well.

U8

Whipple Tree defeated Local SEO RI, 4-0. Katherine Harnett scored two goals and Landon Solomito scored one. Air Hayes played great defense for Local SEO RI.

U11

401 Motoring and Hanson Curran had a great game in the summer heat, with each team scoring 4 goals. Notable players for the game were Caroline Clooney, Page Anderson, and Parker Stalls for Hanson Curran; and David McGuire, Austin Bartolomei, and Ava Marciano for 401.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
