PORTSMOUTH — Gymnasts from Portsmouth High School delivered a strong performance Saturday, earning second place in Division I at the Rhode Island high school gymnastics championship held at the Murray Center on the campus of Rhode Island College.
Portsmouth posted a team score of 134.1, finishing behind champion Mt. Hope High School, which captured the title with 140.225 points. Barrington High School placed third with 127.25. Leading the way for Portsmouth was Roshana Webster, who turned in one of the meet’s most balanced individual efforts in the all-around competition. Webster finished 11th overall with a combined score of 33.85 across the four events. Her top showing came on the vault, where she took third place with a score of 9.15, showcasing clean lines and a confident landing against a deep field of competitors. Webster also placed fourth on the floor exercise with a 9.2, highlighted by strong tumbling passes and steady execution. She continued to add points on the uneven bars, finishing fifth with a score of 8.45 to round out her scoring contributions.
