Portsmouth Police deal with DWIs, drug charges, more

PORTSMOUTH — Here are some highlights from the Portsmouth Police report from over the past week.

Wednesday, Jan. 1

Bradley P. Sjosten, 37, of 107 Easton Ave., was arrested on a 2nd District Court bench warrant after the vehicle he was riding in was pulled over for a traffic violation around 12:10 a.m. on Route 24 North at Sprague Street.

Elder O. Hernandez-Garcia, 22, of 70 Carroll Ave., Apt. 1104, Newport, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) after being stopped for a traffic violation on West Main Road at Turkey Hill at about 12:20 a.m.

Daron St. Pailin, 54, of 2-1/2 Pond Ave., Newport, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) after being pulled over for a traffic violation on West Main Road at Scott Drive any about 1:50 a.m. He was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test, according to police.

Thursday, Jan. 2

Arnesto L. Sullivan, 38, of 12 Green Lane, Middletown, was charged with violating a no-contact order after police responded to the Mobil Xtra Mart on West Main Road to investigate a report of a suspicious auto at about 12:20 a.m. Police said they witnessed Mr. Sullivan in a verbal argument with a Portsmouth woman with whom a no-contact order had been issued.

Timothy O. Durfee, 33, of 2411 Main Road, Tiverton, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (heroin) after being stopped for a traffic violation at about 8:30 a.m. on East Main Road at Clearview Avenue.

Davin T. Fesmire, 49, of 51 Wentworth Terrace, was charged with driving without an active license, after being pulled over for a traffic violation on East Main Road in front of the fire station at about 1 p.m.

Robert A. Almeida, 48, of 1172 West Main Road, was charged with disorderly conduct after being arrested on a warrant at Twin Lanterns on West Main Road at about 6:45 p.m. Police said the charge was in connection with a dispute with a neighbor on Dec. 31.

David A. Biello, 63, of 43 Franklin St., Newport, was charged with violating a protective order after being arrested on a Portsmouth warrant at his home just after 8 p.m.

Friday, Jan. 3

Michael J. Pado, 47, of 58 Almy St., Newport, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) after being stopped for a traffic violation on West Main Road at Redwood Road at about 2:25 a.m. Police also cited him with refusing to submit to a chemical test.

Sunday, Jan. 5

Duane A. Logan, 44, of 5 Veterans Circle, Apt. 2, Newport, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) after being stopped for a traffic violation on West Main Road at Turkey Hill at about 2:45 a.m.

Todd D. Carvalho, 37, of 42 Bay St., Tiverton, was charged with driving after his license had been denied, suspended or revoked. He was pulled over for a traffic violation on East Main Road at Vanberbilt Lane at about 8:30 a.m., according to police.

Jadin C. Granger, 21, of 40 Chapel Terrace, Newport, was charged with reckless driving after police pulled him over for a traffic violation on Route 24 North at Sprague Street at about 5 p.m.

Michele L. Fontes, 30, of 80 Terrace Ave., Providence, was charged with driving without an active license after being pulled over for a traffic violation just before 9 p.m. on West Main Road.

Carolanne I. Powers, 25, of 121 Daboll St., Providence, was charged with driving without an active license after being pulled over for a traffic violation at about 9:25 p.m. on West Main Road at King’s Grant.
