PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High School gymnastics team came in third place in Saturday’s Division II state championship meet, and one of its athletes qualified for the New England Gymnastics Championship to be held next month.

Cranston West, the regular-season champions, won the title with a team score of 135.05 points, followed by Warwick/Pilgrim with 133.575.

The Patriots mirrored their performance during the regular season, taking third place with a score of 130.4. The breakdown by event was 33.40 points for the vault, 30.75 for the uneven parallel bars, 33.05 for the beam, and 33.20 for the floor exercise.

Caroline Daly, a senior who scored an 8.35 in the bars event, qualified to compete at the New England Gymnastics Championship to be held Saturday, March 14, in Enfield, Conn. She also scored an 8.25 on the vault, 8.30 on the beam, and an 8.25 on the floor exercise for a total of 33.15.

Sierra Bonoff, a freshman, also turned in a strong performance. She had the two top scores for the Patriots — an 8.65 on the floor exercise and an 8.55 on the beam. She also scored an 8.30 on the vault and an 8.0 on the bars, for a total of 33.5 — the top all-around score for her team.

Here’s how the other Patriots fared:

• Fiona Daly: 8.20 (vault), 7.20 (bars), 7.85 (beam) and 7.90 (floor) for a total of 31.15

• Caitlyn Wordell of Little Compton: 8.40 (vault), 6.25 (bars), 8.20 (beam) and 8.20 (floor) for a total of 31.05

• Maura Dennis of Little Compton: 8.45 (vault), 8.10 (floor)

• Melanie Williams: 8.15 (vault), 7.20 (bars), and 8.00 (beam)

• Riley Borden: 6.65 (bars) and 7.25 (floor)

• Lucy Waldner of Little Compton: 8.00 (beam)
