PORTSMOUTH — Portsmouth residents Ed and Lyn Cameron will be honored next month by the East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) for their longtime volunteer service and community impact.

The couple has been named among the recipients of EBCAP’s 2026 Vision Awards, which recognize individuals and organizations for contributions to the agency and the communities it serves. The awards will be presented during EBCAP’s 21st annual Seaside Gala on June 11 at the Wyndham Newport Hotel.

According to EBCAP, the Camerons have combined for 14 years of volunteer service through the agency’s AmeriCorps Seniors program.

Lyn Cameron was recognized for her nine years as a health education coach with EBCAP’s “A Matter of Balance” falls prevention program, which helps older adults improve confidence and maintain independence.

Ed Cameron has volunteered for the past five years with EBCAP’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, providing free tax preparation services while mentoring student volunteers and sharing his knowledge of tax law.

“Ed and Lyn exemplify the true spirit of volunteerism,” Kim Wetherald, director of EBCAP’s Office of Volunteer Services, said in a statement.

Other 2026 Vision Award recipients include Conexión Latina Newport, Middletown Public Schools and Phanida Phivilay of Johnston. Nadine Tavares of the Rhode Island Department of Health will receive EBCAP’s Public Service Award.

EBCAP provides health and human services throughout Rhode Island’s East Bay communities, including Portsmouth, Newport, Middletown and Tiverton.
