PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High School boys’ lacrosse team improved its record to 10-0 in Division II after defeating Mt. Hope at home Friday, 13-9.

Freshman Jack Cianciolo scored three goals and had two assists. The previous night against Rogers on the road, he led all scorers with seven goals.

Also scoring for Portsmouth were Wyatt Huggins (three goals, one assist), Cade McHugh (two goals, three assists), Niklas Peterson (two goals), Will Hayes (one goal and one assist), and Sam Essery and Tommy Orr (one goal apiece).

Charlie Mottur had two assists, and Max Dooley and Marcus Evans added one apiece.

Goalie Dan Shea played the first half of the game and had two saves. Jackson Cabral stepped up and played goalie for the first time ever in the second half, and had four saves.

Scoring for Mt. Hope were Nick Peirotii (four goals), Jared Rego (two goals), Tristan Tarnulaites (one goal and one assist), and Ben Dichiappari and Keegan Hanley (one goal apiece). Josh Dewolf had two assists. Mt. Hope’s two goalies, Cam Rancover and Ben Haberman, notched 12 saves and two saves, respectively.

Portsmouth led 9-3 at halftime. 

PHS 16, Rogers 7

In a road game on Thursday, May 9, freshman Jack Cianciolo provided much of the offense for the Patriots, scoring seven goals in a resounding 16-7 win over Rogers

Marcus Evans added four goals and two assists, while Wyatt Huggins finished with a goal and three assists, and Cade McHughm had a goal and an assist. 

Goalie Dan Shea made six saves.

The Patriots were scheduled to play Pilgrim High School on the road on Tuesday, May 14, before returning home for a matchup against Ponaganset on Thursday, May 16.
