Portsmouth beats Burrillville, sit atop D-2 girls’ lacrosse

PORTSMOUTH — In a battle of two undefeated Division II teams, the Portsmouth High varsity girls’ lacrosse made easy work of Burrillville on Saturday, winning 13-2 in impressive fashion 

The Patriots are now 5-0-1 overall on the season and sit atop Division II. They’ve been dominant since playing La Salle Academy to a scoreless tie in a non-league game on March 31. 

Before its latest victory, the team dispatched Toll Gate, 17-7; Rocky Hill Country Day, 20-5; Rogers, 22-5; and Smithfield, 16-1.

Upcoming games

The Patriots’ next three games are on the road: 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, against Chariho; 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, against Lincoln School (non-league game); and 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 7.

The team returns home on Monday, May 9, for a 7 p.m. game against Cranston West, before hitting the road again to play Mt. Hope at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 12.
