Police: Portsmouth man victim of cyberstalking, assault

PORTSMOUTH — A Warwick man was arrested last week after he allegedly made threats to a 28-year-old man from Portsmouth.

As a result of a traffic stop at about 10:45 a.m. on Thursday Nov. 9, David Michael Barber, 37, of 1811 Warwick Ave., Apt. 16S, was taken into custody based on a Portsmouth arrest warrant.

Barber was charged with domestic cyberstalking and cyber-harassment; domestic assault; and driving without an active license, his fifth offense.

Barber was transported to Newport County District Court for his arraignment. 

Here are some other recent highlights from the Portsmouth Police report:

Wednesday, Nov. 7

Gerald John Pratt, 66, of 8 Child St., Apt. 5, was charged with providing false information to a 911 operator. He was arrested at his home after a warrant had been issued, police said.

John K. Medeiros, 69, of 15 North Drive, was charged with assault after officers responded to his home at 8:30 p.m. to serve an arrest warrant, police said.

Friday, Nov. 9

Armando G. Rodrigues, 60, of 301 Milliken Boulevard, Apt. 140, Fall River, was charged with driving without an active license at about 4:20 p.m. While on patrol in the area of Teddi’s Beach, officers saw Rodrigues’s vehicle travel past their location with a rear stoplight that wasn’t working, and pulled the vehicle over.

Sunday, Nov. 11

Daniel R. Dill, 33, of no permanent address, was arrested on a Superior Court bench warrant shortly before 10 p.m. Officers responded to the area of East Main Road and Linden Lane to investigate a report of an intoxicated man walking in the roadway. Dill was escorted out of the roadway, booked, and later transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranson, police said.

Monday, Nov. 12

Peter C. Tashjian, 67, of 24 Hargraves Drive, was charged with driving under the influence (first offense), at about 6 p.m. Officers responded to the area of East Main Road and Dexter Street after receiving a report of an intoxicated male driver. Officers observed Tashjian’s vehicle to be traveling well below the speed limit, swerving out of its lane of travel, and operating on a steel wheel, according to police. Tashjian was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test, police said.
