Letter: Why steal the cones topping the Glen’s beehive pillars?

To the editor:

Glen Farm, once a landmark country estate, is one of Portsmouth's treasures. The lanes that wind through the Glen are graced by numerous stone "beehive" pillars. Each has a concrete cone at the top.

Then, just recently, the cones of the beehive pillars that mark the entrance to Glen Farm Road were stolen. The first was taken a couple of weeks ago, the other in the past several days.

Who would want them? They serve no purpose other than to add to the unique landscape that is Glen Farm. I implore whoever removed them to return them to their rightful place.

He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
