Michael Byrnes’ letter of Thursday, April 29, titled “Critical Race Theory - A Dystopian pathology,” was a beautifully written, factual and informative letter. He identified the dangerous direction our society is facing if we fail to recognize the relationship between CRT and Marxism. I did not detect Mr. Byrnes attack, degrade or label his neighbors because of their beliefs.

Our Constitution provides every American “Freedom of Speech.” It was bothersome to read a response letter use toxic words: racist, white supremacy, morally reprehensible, to describe Mr. Byrnes’ letter.

The content of his letter was not evil or racist; instead it recognized the history of a country that is not perfect but continues work to improve her flaws. His purpose was to question if a Marxist ideology is the direction our society really wants.

Another letter took the opportunity to use the death of George Floyd, HR1 proposal and the events of Jan. 6 to distort the meaning of what Mr. Byrnes wrote. The second letter came across as politically hateful and claimed Mr. Byrnes’ letter suffered from bad timing. The facts and history that were presented were completely separate from the events listed.

I believe that writer missed the point.
