PORTSMOUTH — For the 13th straight year, children with developmental and physical disabilities from around Rhode Island and beyond descended upon Glen Park Sunday for a day full of baseball, games, food and fun.

The annual Challenger Jamboree was hosted by Portsmouth-based Rhode Island District 2 Challenger Division. Twelve teams from Massachusetts and Rhode Island, including two from Aquidneck Island, competed in six different games.

Besides all the baseball, there was also a bounce house, water slide, free raffle prizes, mascots from many different sports teams, face-painting, pony rides, a touch-a-truck and more.

As always, everything was offered up free of charge and a team of volunteers made it all possible so that parents could enjoy a stress-free day of watching their children play.
