PORTSMOUTH — Seven Democrats, four Republicans and two Independents have thrown their hats into the ring for the Portsmouth Town Council race this year.

There will also be five candidates running for State Senate District 11, which is being vacated by a retiring Sen. James Seveney.

Local candidates had until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, to declare their intention of running. Independent candidates will not participate in the primaries. They will be collecting signatures to be on the November ballot.
