East Providence schedules COVID-19 booster vaccine clinics

To be held at regional pod on Taunton Avenue

EAST PROVIDENCE — East Providence has announced a series of COVID-19 booster shot clinics throughout the month with the Pfizer vaccine. The clinics will take place in the Regional POD location at 585 Taunton Ave.

Boosters are available for: people 65 years old; those with an underlying medical condition (18-64); and those who are at increased risk due to occupation or institutional setting (18-64). Boosters are administered six months out from the second dose.

Third shots are also being offered for those people that are immunocompromised, at least 28 days from the second dose.

Times and dates for the clinics are as follows:
Wednesday, Oct. 6, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 8, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 13, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 15, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 18, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 20, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 22, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Monday, Oct. 25, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 27, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

In addition, the city will host pop-up booster shot clinics at the Weaver Library on Grove Avenue on Thursday, Oct. 28, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 29, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
