Gains $70,000 to procure PPE through R.I. Foundation, United Way fundraising effort
EAST PROVIDENCE — City-based CareLink, a non-profit organization of post-acute and community healthcare providers, has been awarded $70,000 from the joint United Way/Rhode Island Foundation COVID-19 Response Fund, for use to buy medical supplies for its frontline health workers.
CareLink, which serves approximately 3,000 older adults in the area, is attempting to secure adequate PPE (personal protective equipment) supplies of gloves, masks, gowns and face shields for healthcare professional in its network, including those who tend to Tockwotton on the Waterfront here in East Providence, Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice in Portsmouth and Saint Elizabeth Manor in Bristol among others around the state and region.
The COVID-19 Response Fund was established by Rhode Island Foundation and United way on March 17. To date, more than $3.9 million has been distributed to 76 organizations affected by the coronavirus.
