PORTSMOUTH — Here are some recent arrests made by the Portsmouth Police Department:

Tuesday, Jan. 14

Jaheim Joseph Dixon, 22, of 32 Cook Ave. Apt. 206, Meriden, Conn., was charged with operating under a foreign license that had been suspended or revoked. Dixon was pulled over for a moving violation on West Main Road at Turkey Hill around 2:20 a.m., police said.

Saturday, Jan. 18

Jhonny Alexander Lopez Melgar, 30, of 124 Greenwood Road, North Kingstown, was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), first offense. Responding to a call about an erratic driver, officers pulled Lopez Melgar over on West Main Road at Kings Grant Drive around 12:35 a.m. after observing his vehicle swerving in and out of its lane of travel, according to police. He was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test, police said.

Tuesday, Jan. 21

Eric Stewart, 39, of 3299 East Main Road, Apt. C, was charged with disorderly conduct (fighting/tumultuous behavior). The arrest resulted from a previous incident on Jan. 15, when officers responded to Cumberland Farms, 3166 East Main Road, to investigate a report of a disorderly person. Although officers were able to identify Stewart from previous contacts, they could not locate him at the time, according to police. Detectives drafted a warrant and Stewart turned himself in shortly after 9 a.m., police said.

Wednesday, Jan. 22

Stefani Roche, 64, of 18 South Drive, was charged with DUI, first offense, at about 9:50 p.m., shorty after a caller reported a vehicle had possibly struck multiple parked vehicles and committed numerous traffic violations, police said. When officers located the vehicle, it failed to maintain its lane of travel and was pulled over on Bristol Ferry Road at Sunny Acres, police said. Roche was also cited for refusing a chemical test.

Thursday, Jan. 23

Eric Antone Soares, 56, of 54 Silva Ave., was arrested at his home around 9:40 a.m. on an affidavit warrant charging him with disorderly conduct (offensive words at another), police said.

Friday, Jan. 24

Kristopher Michael Goodrich, 42, of 191 Kilburn St., Fall River, was arrested on a Superior Court bench warrant after being pulled over due to a registration violation on Route 24 at Sprague Street at about 8:30 a.m.

Saturday, Jan. 25

Sonya Ann Simmons, 71, of 22 Fillmore St., Newport, was charged with DUI, first offense, at about 12:20 a.m. Officers pulled her vehicle over on West Main Road at Twin Lanterns after observing numerous traffic violations, police said. Simmons was also cited for refusing a chemical test.

Katherine Julia MacDonald, 32, of 100 Almeida Terrace, Apt. 109, was charged with domestic disorderly conduct at about 10:40 p.m. The arrest was the result of a 911 call. The victim was a 45-year-old man who lives in Portsmouth, police said.

Sunday, Jan. 26

David Lee Truver, 42, of 33 Rolling Green Drive, Apt. J, Fall River, was charged with domestic disorderly conduct at about 12:20 a.m. Officers responded to the Cumberland Farms at the corner of Stubble Lane and East Main Road after receiving a report of a domestic incident. Upon their arrival, Truver was observed yelling and hitting a vehicle in the parking lot by the gas pumps, according to police. The victim was a 36-year-old woman from Portsmouth, police said.

Katland Isidore, 33, of 17 State St., Taunton, Mass., was charged with DUI, first offense, after being pulled over on Route 24 North at Cedar Island due to several traffic violations, police said. He was also cited for refusing a chemical test.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far.
