Barrington’s Soraya Fanion has always loved animals, so when she began volunteering at Mount Hope Farm more than a year ago, she was quickly drawn to some of the animals that live there.
Eventually, the St. Andrew’s School junior realized that the goats at Mount Hope Farm could really use some structures to climb upon.
“We have a large area for the goats and it would be great to have an interactive and stimulating play area where they can have fun with each other and release some energy and get exercise,” Soraya said. “Mt Hope Farm relies on the revenue from hosting weddings and other events. Due to COVID, those events have been cancelled therefore not generating any revenue.”
Instead, Soraya set up a Go Fund Me page for the goats. She said 100 percent of the donations go directly to Mount Hope Farm.
Soraya said she has grown up with dogs and an African Grey Parrot, and recently she rescued a chinchilla.
“I have also adopted a goat named Nellie,” Soraya said. “In the future, I hope to work with marine animals and marine life.”
