PORTSMOUTH — Here are some recent arrests made by the Portsmouth Police Department:
Monday, Dec. 23
Jermaine D. Burks, 30, of 40 Cotter St., East Providence, turned himself in at police headquarters shortly after 5 p.m. on an affidavit warrant. The warrant had been issued by the Detective Division after Burks allegedly struck someone’s vehicle and later assaulted its owner, police said. He was charged with failure to stop after an accident which resulted in damage to an attended vehicle, and simple assault or battery.
Thursday, Dec. 26
Stephanie Michelle Barker, 27, of 2431 West Main Road, was charged with domestic assault following a disturbance at her home the night before, according to police. The victim was a 78-year-old woman who lives in Portsmouth, police said.
Friday, Dec. 27
Stephanie Lynne Zarum, 51, of 23 Water St., Apt. 1, Fairhaven, Mass., was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), first offense, following a motor vehicle stop on Route 24 northbound at Cedar Island shortly after 1 a.m. Zarum was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.
Lisa Renee Cote, 60, of 11 Fox Run Road, was charged with domestic assault at about 7:30 p.m. Cote allegedly shoved a 26-year-old man who lives in Portsmouth, police said.
Roberto Perez-Encarnacion, 30, of 815 Gerard Ave., Bronx, N.Y., was charged with operating a motor vehicle under a foreign license that had been suspended or revoked. His vehicle was pulled over on West Main Road at Prescott Point shortly before 10 p.m. due to a moving and equipment violation, police said.
Saturday, Dec. 28
Gissell Lara Chavez, 24, 12 Statue Way, Apt. 1, was charged with DUI, first offense, after being pulled over on West Main Road at Raytheon at about 2:20 a.m.
Iesha Cynthia Murrell, 29, of 231 Maple Ave., Apt. 703, Newport, was arrested on an active affidavit warrant that had been issued by the Cranston Police Department, police said. Her vehicle was stopped in the area of Route 24 North and Freeborn Street around 8:30 a.m.
Sunday, Dec. 29
Joshua M. Canfield, 46, of 26 Barkers Lane, Apt. 3, was charged with DUI, second offense; and illegal possession of a weapon other than a firearm, at about 10:20 p.m. Canfield was pulled over at Clements’ Marketplace, East Main Road, after his vehicle was observed swerving within its travel lane and committing multiple roadway violations, police said. He was also cited for refusing a chemical test, according to police.
