PORTSMOUTH — Here are some recent arrests made by the Portsmouth Police Department, plus one by Middletown Police:

Monday, Oct. 7

Sabrina Spano, 24, of 369 Jepson lane, was charged with domestic assault/battery, after officers went to her home around 1:15 p.m. in response to a report of a domestic verbal argument. Upon arriving at the scene, officers determined that Spano, who had called police, had engaged in a physical altercation with a 22-year-old woman from Portsmouth with whom she shares a domestic relationship, according to police. Officers arrested Spano after determining she had been the primary aggressor, police said.

Kimberly Mendes, 27, of 46 Magnolia Drive, Swansea, was charged with disorderly conduct (fighting/tumultuous behavior) following an incident in the parking lot of Dollar General, 3228 East Main Road, at about 3 p.m., police said. After officers spoke with witnesses, Mendes was arrested at a home on Collins Street in Bristol around 4 p.m. She was brought back to the police station where she was placed in a women’s cell until her arraignment by a justice of the peace, police said.

Thursday, Oct. 10

Anthony D. Martin, 48, of Portsmouth, was hit with multiple charges by Middletown Police after leading them on a chase through that town, police said. It started around 11:30 a.m., when he was pulled over for a traffic violation on West Main Road, with a female passenger in the car. After the officer retrieved Martin’s driver’s license and registration, the vehicle fled the scene and collided with three different vehicles, according to police. The vehicle then crashed into a fire hydrant and Martin fled on foot, police said. He was apprehended after a brief pursuit and taken to Newport Hospital for an evaluation, along with his passenger, police said. At his arraignment on Friday, Martin was ordered held on $20,000 surety bail on the following charges: driving to endanger resulting in serious bodily injury, and duty to stop in an accident resulting in serious bodily injury, both felonies. He was also charged with four misdemeanors: failure to stop for an accident resulting in damage to a vehicle (three counts), obstructing an officer in the execution of duty, resisting arrest, and reckless driving. Martin was also found to be wanted by Rhode Island State Police on assault and disorderly conduct charges. He was on probation for a 2023 domestic violence case and a 2021 cyberstalking and cyber-harassment case, according to court records.

Friday, Oct. 11

Jacqueline Anne Tosi, 24, of 3626 Main Road, Tiverton, was charged with domestic assault at about 1 a.m. Officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute in an Uber, and found Tosi on the shoulder of Route 24 North at Cedar Island, police said. A 23-year-old man from Gales Ferry, Conn. told officers a verbal argument had taken place between he and Tosi inside the Uber before it turned physical and he was assaulted, according to police. Tosi then exited the vehicle on the highway in an attempt to walk home, police said. Tosi was held overnight at the police station and brought to 2nd Division District Court in Newport the following morning, police said.

Herschel Gates, 47, of 96 Dexter St., was arrested on an affidavit warrant around 11:30 a.m. after he was spotted walking down Park Avenue at Riverside Avenue, police said.
