Taylor Ekstrom, 25, a 2012 graduate of Tiverton High School, scored two touchdowns on Saturday, May 25, to help the Badalona Dracs down the LG OLED Black Demons, 47-6, in Spanish Bowl XXV, the championship game of Spain's professional football league.

It was Badalona's fourth consecutive Spanish Bowl title and tenth all-time, capping an 11-1 season in which they went 10-0 in league play.

The Spanish league is also a full member of the International Federation of American Football, where the Dracs remained a European Top 25 team throughout the season but were eliminated from the European Club Team Competition championship series with a loss to the Vienna Vikings of the Austrian league in April. 

Under Spain's professional football rules, teams are limited to three foreign players, or imports. Ekstrom, a two-year starter at Tiverton High and three-year starter at Fitchburg State University, signed with the Dracs in January and led the team with 85 receptions and 1,300 receiving yards this past season. He also scored 98 points on 16 touchdowns and one two-point conversion.

And that #11?

“He’s definitely an Edelman fan, but this was the first time he ever had 11 as a jersey number,” said his father, Bob. “His game is similar - quick over fast, precise routes, sure hands, a "possession" receiver. In Spain, he was more productive outside because the QB - Hunter Correll from Northern Arizona - likes the deep ball.
