Richard P. D’Addario of Tiverton has been elected president of the Rhode Island Bar Association. His term runs from July 1 of this year through June 30, 2021.

Mr. D'Addzrio is a solo practitioner with an office at One Courthouse Square in Newport, presently concentrating in real estate, probate, and related litigation. After graduating from Boston College and New York University Law School, he came to Rhode Island as a VISTA volunteer at Rhode Island Legal Services where he worked for five years before going into private practice.

He is admitted to practice in both Rhode Island and New York, the United States District Court of Rhode Island, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has been a long-standing member of the House of Delegates and the Executive Com­mittee, and he chaired the Annual Meeting Plan­ning Committee in 2015.

MrD'Addario has been the Tiverton probate judge since 1993 and in Little Compton since 2014. He is also serving as the Municipal Court Judge in Portsmouth which was founded in 2014. He served as a member of the Supreme Court Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee, which he chaired for over ten years. He has an active law practice in Newport, has served on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations, and he is a Fellow of the Rhode Island Bar Foundation. He has been a participant in the Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyer Panel for many years.

 Founded in 1898, the Rhode Island Bar Association is a non-profit organization counting all those licensed to practice law in Rhode Island as its members. Currently the membership totals over 6,500 individuals.
