Tiverton Police Report: Social distancing violations

Monday, March 23

At 2:46 p.m., police and fire were called to Michaels Lane for a truck fire. The truck was destroyed but nobody was hurt.

Police were called to Chace Avenue at 5:58 p.m. for someone driving through another’s property.

A report of a stolen vacuum cleaner brought police to Pierce Avenue at 7:04 p.m.

Tuesday, March 24

Police were called to Bourne Mill Apartments twice for reports of loud arguing. No arrests were made.

At 12:59 p.m., police were notified that two men with a shovel and metal detector were doing something between Town Hall and Fort Barton.

Police went to a Main Road location for a report of a man on property who won’t leave. Man “just quahogging in area and is allowed to be there by law,” officer says.

At 4:58 p.m., police responded to a 911 call for wires down on Hurst Lane. Witnesses said a white truck hit a pole but took off. National Grid was called.

Police were called about people gathering at the closed Bulgarmarsh Road playground.

Wednesday, March 25

Jessica N. Lubas, 19, of 45 Willow St., Tiverton was arrested at12:50 a.m. on Main Road on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.  Police had been called for a report of two women fighting on the sidewalk.

Taylor Madison Cory, 19, of 2743 East Main Road, Portsmouth, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct at 1:12 a.m. on Main Road. Police had been called for a report of two women fighting on the sidewalk.

Alan Alexander, 55, of 100 Church St., Tiverton, was arrested on a bench warrant from 2nd District Court at 5:56 p.m. at that address.

Thursday, March 26

Police were called to Bento Lane at 3:54 p.m. for a woman said to be blocking traffic. 

At 4:14 p.m. police went to the Bulgarmarsh Road playground where about 25 people had gathered despite the playground being closed. The gathering was cleared and the playground re-marked with yellow police tape.

Friday, March 27

Jonathan Sanchez, 28, of Fall River, was arrested on a charge of driving with a foreign license while his license was suspended at 9:30 p.m. on Hilton Street.

A resident complained to police of a threat to place private information on-line.

Police were called to a Main Road business for a complaint of people not following social distancing rules.

Police were called back to Bulgarmarsh Recreation Area for kids playing at 2:37.

At 3:46 p.m., police returned to Bulgarmarsh Road playground for youths skateboarding and playing basketball.

At 5:56 p.m., youths at Bulgarmarsh Recreation Area.

At 6:21 p.m., police and rescue were called to Eagleville Road for a motorcycle vs. motorcycle accident with injuries. Two people were taken to Rhode Island Hospital, and another declined treatment.

Police were called to the area of Tiverton Basin for a fireworks complaint at 9:29 p.m.

Saturday, March 28

Police responded to Harbor Ridge Lane at 1:12 a.m. for a report of someone banging on the garage door — all occupants on upper floor along with armed homeowner. Nothing found.

Police responded to a report of bullying at Hancock Estates; resident says person destroyed her puzzle.

A Seapowet Avenue resident reported that someone has been continually dumping cooking oil on the complainant’s property.

Dirt bikes were reported in the management area off Eight Rod Road at 3:58 p.m.

At 6:43 p.m., police went to Bourne Mill Apartments for a fight near the front entrance.

Police went to Fogland Beach at 7:51 p.m. for a 911 call that occupants of two pickup trucks had pulled a woman from her vehicle. Police found the vehicles but said it was a misunderstanding.

Sunday, March 29

At 10:57 a.m., a dog was struck and killed on Crandall Road.

At 9:59 p.m., a house on Bonnifield Drive was struck by lightning, setting off alarms and blowing fuses.

Monday, March 30

Anthony Matrullo, 50, of Lincoln, was arrested on a fraudulent check charge (over $1,000), at 12:42 p.m. on King Street.
