Tiverton fire spreads from car into house Sunday

TIVERTON — An early afternoon fire destroyed a car and damaged a house at 27 Mount Hope Avenue west of Main Road overlooking Tiverton Basin).

Alerted tp the blaze at about 12:15 pm, the first crews to arrive found that a car parked close to the house was engulfed in flames and that the fire had spread to the house. Fire crews were also called in from from Fall River and Portsmouth, while Little Compton, Westport, and Bristol covered Tiverton’s stations.

The fire was extinguished in about 45 minutes but not before doing considerable damage. The cause of the blaze remained under investigation Monday
