South Shore Beach will open in time for Memorial Day weekend, the Little Compton town council announced during their meeting Thursday night.
Summarizing from a letter submitted by the Beach Commission, president Robert Mushen said that starting Saturday, May 23, the beach will be open on weekends and Memorial Day from 8 am to 6 pm through Saturday, June 20. From there, it will operate seven days a week until Monday, September 7. Parking lot capacity will be limited to 50 percent, and a permanent gate will be installed and locked during off hours. Only Rhode Island residents or out-of-state Little Compton residents with a beach sticker will be permitted entry, and all staff have or will soon receive COVID-19 training. All youth activities remain canceled until further notice at this time.
