WESTPORT — Shellstock 2019, Westport’s celebration of “local beer, local food and local oysters,” as Director of Marine Services Chris Leonard puts it, will take place at Buzzards Bay Brewing, 98 Horseneck Road, on Sunday, Oct. 6, from 12:30 to 4 p.m.
Providing music in this, Shellstock’s third year, is bluesy Martha’s Vineyard band Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish.
Highlighting the food offerings will be ‘buck a shuck” oysters from two Westport River oyster farms — Westport Sea Farms and Spindrift.
Several food trucks, among them one from The Bayside Restaurant in Westport, and Fancheezical will also be on hand.
Beer will be provided by host Buzzards Bay Brewery.
All proceeds from the event, Mr. Leonard said, will go toward the purchase of more seed-sized scallops, oysters and quahogs to be sown in the river to replenish stocks and to eventually provide shellfish for harvest by both family and commercial license holders.
