Portsmouth girls dismantle Townies in D-I matchup
Emily Colicci leads all scorers with 21 points
PORTSMOUTH — Led by Emily Colicci, who netted 21 points to lead all scorers, the Portsmouth High School girls’ varsity basketball team made easy work of East Providence during a home game on Thursday, Jan. 9.
The Division I Patriots led at halftime, 44-14, and never looked back.
Colicci sank five, 3-pointers in an impressive display of shooting.
Also contributing on offense for the Patriots were Gabby Schenck (14 points), Maeve Tullson (10), Courtney Swider (9), Logan Lucenti (6), Morgan Casey and Emily Maiato (5 apiece), Jules DeComo (4), and Kendall Ferris and Kaitlin Roache (3 apiece).
The Patriots are now 2-2 in the league and 5-3 overall. The team’s league losses came at the hands of La Salle (50-33 on Dec. 19) and North Kingstown (47-43 on Dec. 23).
Next up
The Patriots will look to avenge their loss to La Salle when they hit the road for a 7 p.m. game on Friday, Jan. 16.
They’ll return home to play Rogers on Tuesday, Jan. 21, and then Moses Brown on Thursday, Jan. 23. Both games are at 7 p.m.
