Portsmouth edged by Central High in boys’ soccer, 2-1

PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High School boys’ varsity soccer team is still seeking its first win this season after being nipped by Central High at home Tuesday night, 2-1.
The Division 1 Patriots’ lone goal was scored by Landon Rodrigues on a corner kick from Kyle Bielawa about eight minutes into the game.
Central would tie the score with under two minutes left in the first half, however, and then again about halfway through the second half.
On Sept. 16, the Patriots battled to a scoreless tie with Barrington.
They’ll travel to play Central Falls at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22. Other upcoming games:
• 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25: at Tolman High School (rescheduled from Sept. 9)
• 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 27: home against Classical
• Noon on Saturday, Sept. 30: at Cumberland High
