Little Compton Police Report: 'Prowlers' prove to be coyotes

Monday, Sept. 23

At 10:21 a.m., an Ocean Drive resident called with concerns about a neighbor’s trimming work at the property line.

Shortly after 11 a.m., minor motor vehicle accidents were reported outside the Community Center and in the Public Safety Complex parking lot.

Tuesday, Sept. 24

Police were called to Burchard Avenue for a vehicle striking a mailbox at around 9:56 p.m. and leaving behind headlight debris. Tiverton Police later stopped the suspect vehicle.

Thursday, Sept. 26

At 12:45 a.m., a Crandall Road resident reported that someone may be on his property near the house. An officer checked and noted “coyotes as the apparent cause.”

Credit cards found on South Shore Beach were brought to the station. The owner later retrieved them.

Little Compton and Westport police were called to a hit and run car vs. car accident in the Old Harbor Road area at 7:53 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 28

At 11:27 a.m., Little Compton rescue was called to Crandall Road for “two cyclists down” with injuries. Two patients were taken to Charlton Memorial Hospital. Tiverton was called for mutual aid but that request was cancelled.

At 5:59 p.m., an Amesbury Lane resident reported constant gunfire from a neighbor’s property.

Sunday, Sept. 29

A loose small black dog was picked up in the Mullin Hill Road area at 10:20 a.m. and taken To West Place Sanctuary in Tiverton.

Monday, Sept. 30

A cat was struck by an unknown object and suffered a puncture wound on Indian Road.

A hunting hound was picked up near the Sakonnet Golf Club and taken to West Place in Tiverton. The owner later picked up the dog.
