To the editor:
My name is Jamie Sanford, and I am the director of social work at Heatherwood Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Newport. I have also been a resident of the town of Tiverton all of my life.
I wanted to take a moment, during these difficult times, to recognize amazing work from my town. Under the direction of Bethany St. Pierre, the Tiverton Elementary School Department made art for the residents in my nursing home.
With the visitations restrictions that occurred in mid-March our residents have been experiencing separation from their loved ones. The art, cards, and special messages sent from these students brought such joy to our elderly residents.
The residents loved them so much they created a “Wall of Hope” to ensure that everyone could share in the joy and positivity. Tiverton is truly going the distance!
