On Friday night about 11 pm four of us Little Compton Sseniors, combined age of 328, were on our way home from a concert in Newport. All was good until a screw punctured my tire and I noticed the loss of air pressure while on Route 24. I decided to ride out the tire until we could exit and find a safe place to change the tire. Too dangerous to attempt the change on a highway. We pulled into Standish Boat yard on Route 77 and us two male passengers began to change the tire.
Then came good fellow young Jack. He certainly was a welcome helper and us seniors become bystanders. Jack spends his summers in Tiverton with his wife’s family. He lives in Austin,Texas and certainly is a jack-of-all-trades and a gracious person. My wife is a Texan and of course the talk turned to college football.
The donut spare tire got us home. The experience reinforced the need for us to look out for one another. Jack, we thank you for your help. Sorry we didn’t get your contact information. Your help was inspiring and much appreciated.
