Joseph S. Rego Jr., 86, Little Compton

Joseph S. Rego Jr., 86, of Little Compton, peacefully passed away at home on Sunday, March 28, 2021, with his family by his side. He was the husband of Shirley (Marion) Rego.

Mr. Rego was born in Little Compton, son of the late Joseph S. Rego Sr. and the late Georgiana (Elshant) Rego, and had been a lifelong resident of the town. He grew up on a dairy farm and always loved farm life. 

Prior to his retirement, he was the owner/operator of Joseph Rego & Son Excavating, Inc. in Little Compton and he had also worked as the superintendent of the Little Compton Highway Department. He enjoyed camping, fishing in Florida, and horse and tractor pulls. He was a true family man and his greatest joy was spending time with his loved ones.

Survivors, along with his wife, include his son, Joseph R. Rego III and his wife Bonnie of Little Compton; his daughter, Karen Moniz and her husband Dana of Little Compton; a brother, Robert Rego and his wife Jane of Tiverton; two sisters, Georgiana Souza of Florida, and Natalie Darling of Little Compton; four grandchildren, Daniel Moniz and his fiancée Briannah Rosinha, Jason Moniz and his fiancée Monica Gray, Joseph Rego IV and Emily Rego; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Franklin Rego, Ronald Rego, Mary Benson, Louise Almeida, Lydia Rego and Agnes Braz.

Mass of Christian Burial, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Monday, April 5, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Little Compton, at 10 a.m.

Interment will be in Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, Little Compton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to 21 FrienDS, 1118 Drift Rd., Westport, MA 02790.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Potter Funeral Home, Westport.
