John A. Schori, age 90, of Little Compton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 13, 2022. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Ernst) Schori, the love of his life, whom he had been married to for the past 64 years.

Born in Küsnacht, Zürich, Switzerland, he was the son of the late Alfred and Margaret (Salzner) Schori and the brother of the late Heidi Kellermann and Lotti Schori.
John worked as a Marketing and Sales Director for Swiss Airlines for many years. During this time, he lived in several states and visited and explored every continent, with the exception of Antarctica, which he said with a smile, “didn’t count.” During his later years he owned and operated Westchester Travel Agency in Westchester, PA.
John was a lifelong active Rotarian. He was the past President of the PG Club in Little Compton where he initiated a monthly guest speaker series and always had a “joke for the road.” John was also a deacon at the United Congregational Church of Little Compton, where he read scripture passages with his charming Swiss accent.

John loved adventure, especially when it came to international travel, people and cuisine. He spoke five different languages. He and his wife became U.S. Citizens in the early 1990s and was chosen by the U.S. Citizenship council to deliver the keynote speech to the large group receiving citizenship that day.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Barbara DenUyl, and her husband Richard DenUyl, Jr of Little Compton and Christina Schori Liang and her husband Oliver Liang, of Geneva, Switzerland; three beloved grandchildren, Sophia DenUyl of Washington, D.C., Benjamin Liang of Geneva, Switzerland and Phoebe Liang of Sterling, Scotland.

His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 11 AM in the United Congregational Church, The Commons, Little Compton. Family and friends are invited. Contributions in his honor may be made to the United Congregational Church, P.O. Box 506, Little Compton, RI 02837 or Doctors Without Borders, PO Box 5030, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5030. Burial private.
