Jane L. Thurston, 83, Little Compton

Jane L. Thurston, 83, of Little Compton, died March 4, 2020, at St. Anne’s Hospital, Fall River. She was the wife of the late John A. Thurston.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Manuel Camara and Jennie (Durfee) Camara, she was a life-long resident of Little Compton.

Mrs. Thurston was a graduate of Wilbur School and Campbell’s Secretary School of New Bedford. She worked for the former Fo’c’sle Restaurant of Little Compton and the Stone Bridge Inn and Evelyn’s Drive-In of Tiverton. She was a school bus monitor for the Little Compton School Department.

She loved bingo, playing cards and bowling and belonged to the Sakonnet Chicks.

She leaves two sons, P. Mason Thurston and Weston Thurston; two daughters,  Debra L. Souza (Marc), and Shelli A. Cleary (Matthew), all of Little Compton; two sisters, Carolyn Montgomery and Barbara Passmore, both of Little Compton; six grandchildren, James A. and Jeremy P. Thurston, Ashley L. and Dillon P. Cleary, Weston D. III and Susan J. Thurston; and five great grandchildren, Logan P. Thurston, Liam J. Thurston, Taylor Thurston, Madison Thurston and Addison Thurston; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 14, at 11 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church on The Commons, Little Compton. Burial will be in Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, Little Compton. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Little Compton Ambulance Fund, Little Compton Town Hall, 40 Commons Road, Little Compton, RI 02837.
