Evelyn (Souza) Gouveia, 94, of Tiverton, R.I. died July 21, 2022, at Dawn Hill Home & Rehabilitation in Bristol, R.I. She was the wife of the late George Gouveia.

Born in Fall River, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Constance (Medeiros) Souza. She lived in Tiverton for over 65 years and was a parishioner of St. Theresa Church.  She embraced life with a positive attitude, relying on her faith to guide her.

Mrs. Gouveia is survived by a son, Steven Gouveia and his wife Linda of Tiverton, R.I.; a daughter, Cheryl Leary and her husband Timothy Leary of Tiverton, R.I.; grandchildren Jennifer Oser, Owen Leary, and Allison Leary; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma Moore of Tiverton; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Gouveia was the sister of the late Mary Silvia, Laura Borges, Beatrice Gould, Phillis Monte, Constance Bourget, Ethel Jackson, Olivia Bourget, Manuel Souza, Anthony Souza, Frank Souza, and Dennis Souza.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa Church, Stafford Road, Tiverton, R.I. Family will receive relative and friends from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the Mass at the church. Burial to follow at Pocasset Hill.
