Twenty-five-year-old Seekonk dies in August 5 accident

EAST PROVIDENCE — The Rhode Island State Police have identified the person who died in a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 195 in East Providence Monday evening, Aug. 5.

The victim was Victor Pereira, 25, of Seekonk.

According to the RISP, troopers received a report of a motor vehicle crash at approximately 9:12 p.m. on Interstate 195 East, just west of Exit 7, where a motor vehicle exited the lane of travel and struck the rear of a construction truck resting in the breakdown lane.

The operator of the motor vehicle was transported to Rhode Island Hospital and pronounced deceased there. The operator of the construction truck was not injured as a result of the crash. RISP stated the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
