Teams begin District 2 Minor Division event
EAST PROVIDENCE — The 2023 Ron Silva District 2 Little League Minor Division All Star Tournament began Thursday night, June 29, with games across the area, including Newport's visit to Rumford's Rock Complex.
The event is named in honor of the former long-time Riverside Little League administrator.
Newport scored three times in the top of the first inning, then no more as Rumford eventually rolled to a 13-3 victory. For its next game on Saturday, July 9, Rumford awaits the winner of the East Providence Central-Warren game to be played Wednesday, July 5.
