Snowy Owl spotted on Spar Island

Posted

Bird lovers have been known to go to great lengths to catch a glimpse of snowy owls, which visit this part of the country in the colder months. All Warren resident Fred Massie had to do was hop in his kayak and head out onto Mt. Hope Bay.

Mr. Massie, who lives on Brownell Street at Touisset Point in Warren, was kayaking Thursday when he spotted the owl on Spar Island, a small spit of sand across the water from Touisset and Bristol. "After exchanging greetings, he gave me the nod to take his photograph," he said.
