Stover is top city resident to finish 13th annual road race

EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence Firefighters Freak 5k Road Race, presented by East Providence Firefighters Local 850, took place Sunday morning, Oct. 20, on and around the streets of the East Providence Fire Department’s Station 3 in Rumford.
The Halloween-inspired event, where participants are encouraged to don costumes and apparel related to the holiday, was the 13th in the series and raised an additional $5,000 to the charitable causes it supports.
Jake Saunders of Cranston was the overall winner, completing the course in 16 minutes, 32 seconds. Seekonk’s Jessica Scott was the first female finisher and eighth runner overall to cross the line in 20:09. Ryan Stover of Riverside was the top city runner, finishing ninth overall in 21:49.
