Robert H. Drysdale, 79, East Providence

Robert Harry Drysdale, 79, of Venice, Florida, passed away July 23, 2019. He was the beloved husband of the late Diane F. Drysdale (Phillips). He was born in Boston, the son of the late Robert S. and Susan Drysdale (DeRussi) of Riverside. Mr. Drysdale lived much of his life in East Providence.

He was an avid runner for many years and ran two marathons. He helped in the family business at Crescent Cab Company then went on to become a Fire Protection Sprinkler Pipe Fitter for Local 715 and 676 for 35 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years.

He leaves a son; Robert P. Drysdale; two daughters Robin M. Norton (Drysdale), Susan M. Serio (Drysdale); and his companion of 25 years Sandra Motta.

A memorial service will be celebrated September 7 at Abundant Life Assembly of God, 135 New Meadow Road, Swansea at 11 a.m.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
