Nancy L. Handshaw, 72, Riverside

Nancy L. (Christey) Handshaw, 72, of Holland Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on May 15, 2020 at Eastgate Nursing Home, East Providence. She was the wife of the late Kenneth Handshaw.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late James and Eva (Lawrence) Christey, she lived in Riverside for the past 18 years.
Mrs. Handshaw was a LPN at the Harris Health Care Center, East Providence for 15 years. Nancy was a member of the Scottish Rescue League and enjoyed attending car shows.
She is survived by two daughters, Kimberly E. Handshaw of Riverside and Kristine E. Lussier of Riverside and three grandchildren, Shauna McCafferty, Courtney McCafferty and Ashly Hassell.
Her funeral service will be private. Contributions in Nancy’s memory to the Potter League for Animals, 87 Oliphant Lane, Middletown, RI, 02942 would be deeply appreciated.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
