To the editor:
I recently saw a notice that the Zoning Board will be meeting regarding development of the Metacomet property. It is unfortunate that the public cannot be present during this meeting.
A few people have expressed concern about the type of development is requested. From day one, I have been concerned about how the buyer/developer wants to do with the property. Rumor has it that the City of East Providence is a “pushover” for developers.
My feeling is that the property should be for open space! With the recent development of the very expensive condos and a few apartment buildings close to the parkway and Pawtucket Avenue nothing but open space should be allowed at Metacomet!
I hope and pray that all of you will use your common sense and let your conscious be your guide.
Rita M. Phillips
