To the editor:
The New England Witches Guild, claiming to have members who are non-practicing and practicing witches, will hold a witches parade and festival on Saturday, Oct. 19 from Riverside Square to Crescent Park.
Common sense would lead us to expect that the practicing witches will invite participants and visitors to learn about the various elements of witchcraft, from charms and spells to materials and incantations.
Christians know from warnings given in Church teachings to avoid any involvement in occult practices into the spiritual world. There are harmful, afflicting spirits around us that can gain entrance to our minds and souls through the use of spiritual magic or by calling on their assistance in our lives.
Non-Christians would also do well to investigate the dangers of dabbling in the occult arts. All of us have the responsibility to protect our children from any threats to their inner peace that such activities bring.
East Providence has enough challenges to face without adding spiritual conflict to the mix.
