EAST PROVIDENCE — East Providence municipal officials and employees led by Mayor Bob DaSilva together with city-based charity “We Share Hope” volunteers bagged groceries for local seniors and those in need during the COVID-19 crisis at a "grab-and-go” give-away event held on the Senior Center grounds Tuesday, March 24.

The groceries were distributed via a drive-through, open-air market and done while practicing social distancing measures intended to prevent spread of the virus. Dozens of cars wrapped down Waterman Avenue around Pawtucket Avenue as the occupants awaited their opportunity to receive at least one bag of necessities.

Among the companies and non-profit groups participating in the effort were Panera Bread, Gordon Food Services, East Bay Baptist Church, Gotham Food Service, Hungry Fridays, Blount Seafoods, Stop & Shop and Gotham Greens.
