EAST PROVIDENCE — The annual tree lighting ceremony at City Hall last weekend on Saturday, Nov. 26, kicked off a season’s worth of holiday events in city. The following afternoon a similar outing was held at the Crescent Park/Looff Carousel.

This weekend’s festivities include Riverside Renaissance Movement hosts its annual Christmas Tree lighting on Friday, Dec. 2,  from 6 to 8  p.m. in Riverside Square, while the annual Centre Street Christmas Tree lighting event in Rumford, organized by Ward 1 City Councilor Bob Britto, takes place on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 5-8 p.m. at the Freedom Garden Park.

In addition, two of the city’s foremost performing arts groups ring in the Christmas season with events. The Chorus of East Providence invites you to their performance of “ An American Christmas” on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m. at St. Martha’s Church. Also, the JDP Theatre Co. hosts a holiday open house on Saturday, Dec. 3, between 1-3 p.m. at the Church of the Epiphany.
