PROVIDENCE — In an epic encounter Sunday afternoon, June 4, at Brown University, Bay View edged East Providence for the 2023 Division III girls' lacrosse championship in four overtimes, 9-8.

The Townies led at halftime and built a three-goal lead midway through the second but the Bengals answered with a four-goal run of their own to take claim the advantage.

East Providence's Emma Nordquist, from Ryleigh Grant, netted the tying goal late in regulation.

The teams then played three, three-minute overtime periods without a score before Elizabeth Healey netted the title-winning tally with 46 seconds left in the fourth extra session.
