PROVIDENCE — The East Providence High School boys' indoor track and field team  began its Metropolitan Division dual meet slate Monday night, Dec. 11, back at the Providence Career and Tech Academy Field where the Townies won two of three outings. EPHS defeated Hope 92-16 and Juanita Sanchez 98-10, but fell to LaSalle 82-27.

As they did two days earlier at the Injury Fund relays also at the PCTA, the high jump trio led the way for the locals. Kenaz Ochgwu edged mates Cam Evora and Dylan Slavick on attempts as each cleared 6 feet to finish 1-2-3 in the meet.

Slavick was second in the long jump at 19'2.75" with Jaiden Ivy third at 19'1.5."

Roger Beaudet, Ivy, Mac Prevete and Gerry Gagnon were second to LaSalle (3.38.85) in the 4x4 relay, running a 4:04.12. Kwamahn Gilliard, Ivy, Jack Pawlik and Lucas Santa Cruz were second (1:40.09) to the winning LaSalle group (1:34.55) in the 4x2 relay.

Individually, Gagnon added a solo second in the 600 with a 1:39.69. Will Anthony was also runner-up in the 1,500 with a 4:37.67 as was Nolan Travassos in the 55 hurdles with a 10.05. Pawlik was third in the 55 dash with a time of 6.99.

When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
