EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence High School girls' soccer team left it relatively late, but the top-seeded Townies will play for the league title after they defeated visiting West Warwick 2-0 in the Division II playoff semifinals at Pierce Stadium Thursday afternoon, Nov. 19.

Following a scoreless first half, Ashley Dias and Olivia Williams potted goals for undefeated E.P. (7-0-1) in the final 40 minutes.  Briana Lopes was credited with an assist. Keeper Kaylee Davenport earned the shutout in the Townies' net on eight saves.

East Providence will face East Greenwich  in the championship game set for Sunday, Nov. 22, at Johnston High School at 3 p.m.

The third-seeded Avengers defeated  North Smithfield 1-0 in the other semifinal played later Thursday evening.  The Townies and E.G. did not meet during the regular season.
