EAST PROVIDENCE — The Providence Country Day/St. Raphael/Wheeler boys’ hockey cooperative finished with a 7-5-4 record (18 points) and in sixth place in the 2019-20 Division II standings, which was good enough to earn the Knights a berth in the league championship playoffs.
The PSW co-op once again had an East Providence flavor. Starting goalie and junior Jeff Pimental Jr. finished the regular season with a 2.02 goals against average and a .922 save percentage. Fellow St. Ray’s player and senior Dom Reposa led the team in goals (18) and total points (31). Junior Chris DePina chipped in two goals and an assist. And sophomore Kyle Peters added three goals. PCD student and senior Brendan Rogers is another local on the roster.
PSW begins the postseason against third-seeded South Kingstown in a best-of-three quarterfinal round series this weekend with Game 1 at Boss Arena on the URI campus in Kingston Friday, Feb. 28, at 6 p.m. Game 2 is Saturday, Feb. 29, at Lynch Arena in Pawtucket at 5 p.m. A day, time and site for a third game, if necessary, is to be determined.
